- "What we've seen of Rey, she looks like she can handle her stuff. So most of the comments I get are from parents who say how wonderful it is that their little girls can see this character."
- ―Daisy Ridley

Daisy Ridley as Rey
Ridley's involvement with the Star Wars saga was first announced on April 29, 2014.[3] She also voiced her character in the video games Disney Infinity 3.0,[4] LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens,[5] and Star Wars: Battlefront II as well as doing the voice in the television series Star Wars Forces of Destiny.[6]
On August 7, 2014, it was reported that Ridley would reprise her role as Rey in both Episodes VIII and IX.[7]
Ridley won Best Breakthrough Performance for her portrayal of Rey at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.[8]
Star Wars composer John Williams cited Ridley's "enchanting performance" as Rey as a factor in his decision to return for Episode VIII, stating that he would not want another composer scoring her scenes.[9]
In 2019, as Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened in both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios, Ridley reprised her role in the Rise of the Resistance attraction in the form of a holographic message played to guests before the mission portrayed in the ride.[10]
At Celebration Europe 2023, it was announced that Ridley would reprise her role as Rey in an Untitled Star Wars film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy set fifteen years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[11]
