Athakam Medtech was a major medical technology manufacturer which worked closely with the Rhinnal State Medical Academy to develop medical tools and equipment. The partnership produced microsurgery computers, cybernetic controllers, and hyperbaric medical chambers. Some of its most well known products were the Bioscan Unit[1] and the Med Unit.[2]
The company was also the galaxy's biggest supplier of medical supplies. Some of Athakam's experiments went towards development of chemical weapons, but by the time of the Galactic Civil War the company had returned to its pacifistic roots, mostly due to the high costs of chemical weapons research, and even secretly supplied the Rebel Alliance with medical supplies for their war effort, despite the company's stated neutrality.
