about

Second run of cassettes now available :)

Recorded on Saturday 20th July 2024 at Delia Recordings’ The Third Happening, St. John’s Church, Carrington, Nottingham. With thanks to Simon Rudkin, Huw Costin and Matt Horobin.

Months of work went into this show, resulting in six fresh arrangements and two new songs, and I was unexpectedly happy with everything captured on the night. This document feels like a fitting conclusion to the first chapter of Site Nonsite.

All samples and field recordings collected during trips to Japan in 2016 and 2018, except:
- Spoken word provided by Geri Coady, Saki Watanabe, Yusuke Sumida and an anonymous customer of Shirankedo coffee shop in Itami. Translations where necessary by Geri Coady.
- Intro for Delia features samples from the vinyl album 日女の自然 (Japanese Nature), produced by Yamashina Institute of Ornithology, published by Toshiba Records (JKO-1001).
- Esashi Oiwake for Pads features a sample of Esashi Oiwake from the vinyl album Japan: Traditional Vocal & Instrumental Music by Ensemble Nipponia, published by Nonesuch (9 72072-2), 1990.
- Creative Life Store includes a sample of Karen Vogt’s vocal from her rework for Site Nonsite’s Remixed album, published by Obvious Things (OTSN-07), 2024.
- Hotel Sunroute features a sample of Professor Paul D. Holtzman taken from Listen & Learn Japanese, Dover Publications, Inc.,1959, via Boston Public Library Internet Archive.

Live setup: MacBook Pro M1 with Ableton Live Suite, Ableton Push 2, Novation Launchpad Mini, Korg Microkey, Akai 4000DS MK II reel to reel, Tascam Portastudio 414 4-track, Walrus Audio Fathom reverb pedal, Walrus Audio Mako D1 delay pedal, Chase Bliss Generation Loss MKII pedal, Shure SM58 microphone, Scarlett 18i8 interface.
