From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wounded in Action (WIA) is when military people have been wounded while fighting in a combat zone during wartime, but have not been killed. This often means that they are temporarily or permanently unable to fight.[1] Generally, the Wounded in Action are far more numerous than those killed.[2]
