CheckUser is the process of checking information about two or more users (including named users and IP addresses). Some administrators are able to check if two or more accounts have been used from the same computer. These users also see User agents. This can help them decide if two accounts are related in the way described above. It is also possible to see if a user is editing from an open proxy.

On this page, users can request some users or IPs to be checked. Good reasons should be given for why a checkuser is needed; you should provide links which show the questionable edits, etc. Questions should usually be created so that they can be answered by yes or no. Responses will be short in order to comply with Wikipedia privacy policy. Sensitive information (like the IP addresses used by an account) are usually not reported. The results are not always clear, and a decision should not be made only on the basis of checkuser results.

Use of the tool

This tool is to be used to fight vandalism, to check for sockpuppet abuse, and to limit disruption of the project. It must be used only to prevent damage to the project.

The tool should not be used for political control; to apply pressure on editors; or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to check a user. Note that alternative accounts are not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of the policies (for example, to vote more than once or to make it look like more people support an idea). Checkusers will refuse a request, if the reason for checking is not good enough to warrant the use of the tool.

Hello all, I also looked at the edit history of the article: No comment on the IP, as this would link a named user with an IP. ..Notabotta, HistorianAlferedo, Riversideporter, and Powerbanker do not have overlapping IP adresses, and are likely not the same user. Powerbanker and RiversidePorter are currently blocked. In addition, I blocked one IP I found,that likely is an open proxy. The article itself is protected, until January 2. Accounts around Qajar-Wahhabi_War_(1808-1811)

I'm listing the accounts involved in the recreation of this page despite RFD consensus at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Qajar-Wahhabi War (1808-1811) and repeated QD G4 cases (deleted by me and Fr33kman). Please note that the 2nd user had a 72-hour block by Chenzw from December 31st (UTC), and the 1st user made edits during that term. If confirmed, then this is also WP:EVASION. Accounts around WikiAlpha and their founder

I'm reporting possible WP:EVASION around this subject. The 1st to the 3rd user are confirmed in Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archives/2024-12#Accounts_around_WikiAlpha_and_David_Balondemu. The 4th and 5th user are named after the founder of WikiAlpha. Recently, a new user (6th user) has appeared in a relevant article ([6]), and that is their first move in this project. Users at Battle of Tinos Strait

I'm listing up the users around this suspected hoax (Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2025/Battle of Tinos Strait). The 1st and 2nd user is already listed up in w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Albanian atdhetar (as well as KomandantJashari (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log)), another active related user). Please also note that we had an IP user voting in the related RFD (Special:Diff/10000429). In addition, I estimate that the 3rd user abused logout edits at Siege of Kastelorrizo. Creation of hoax is unacceptable, making complex pages is not OK, and doing these with many accounts/IPs is unacceptable. Our CUs should judge if this activity is OK or not. User agents appear the same but IPs are all different. I'd suggest acting on behaviour rather than CU data as I can't confirm at this time. fr33kman 09:23, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
