From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (also called The LEGO Movie 2) is a 2019 3D-animated comic science fiction movie.[1] It is a direct sequel to The Lego Movie (2014) and the second main installment, and the fourth overall installment in The Lego Movie franchise. It was directed by Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum.[2] Phil Lord and Chris Miller returned as producers and co-writers.

It stars Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Tiffany Haddish, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Stephanie Beatriz, and Charlie Day.

The movie was released on February 8, 2019 in 2D, 3D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Immediately following the events of the first movie, the Duplo aliens land in Bricksburg. Emmet decides to approach peacefully, building a heart out of LEGO as a sign of friendship, but when one of the Duplos eats the heart, Wyldstyle and the others attack them. This summons more Duplo creatures to wreak havoc in Bricksburg, but Emmet reassures Lucy that everything can still be wonderful.

Five years later, in the real world, Finn's younger sister Bianca has started bringing some of her LEGO and Duplo creations into the basement to play with her brother. Metaphorically, in the LEGO universe, the Duplo invaders have transformed Bricksburg into a post-apocalyptic wasteland named Apocalypseburg which they continue to destroy periodically. Emmet, however, remains optimistic and wants to live in a house with Lucy, but he is also troubled by prophetic dreams of an oncoming Armageddon. The leader of the Duplo army, General Shatter, arrives in Apocalypseburg and proclaims that Queen Wello Ke-Wuoglio of the Sister System wants to marry their leader. After some discussion about who is the leader, Shackle kidnaps Batman, Lucy, Benny, Steelbeard, and Unikitty. Batman is taken to Wello Ke-Wuoglio where he agrees to marry her, while the others are subjected to a brainwashing that only Lucy resists.

Meanwhile, Emmet converts his house into a spaceship to save his friends. After crossing the basement, he is saved from an asteroid field by the adventurer Rex Dangervest. As they travel through the Sister System, Emmet begins to admire and imitate Rex to impress Lucy with his tough-guy attitude. The two escape capture by Wello Ke-Wuoglio's forces and are reunited with Lucy. Emmet devises a plan to save his friends, which is to destroy the temple where the wedding will be celebrated. As Lucy fights Shatter, he learns that the queen never intended to be evil towards Apocalypseburg, but the marriage was simply a way to maintain peace between the two worlds. Furthermore, she discovers that the queen's original form is the heart that Emmet had built for the Duplos in his attempt to make peace. But Emmet, manipulated by Rex, destroys the temple just as Lucy realizes that Rex deliberately intends to unleash Armageddon.

In the real world, the act of destroying the temple is represented by Finn angrily destroying Bianca's LEGO creations. Overhearing them arguing, their stern mother orders them to put their LEGO sets in the closet: this event is Armageddon. Emmet tries to stop them, but Rex reveals that he is an embittered version of himself from the future. After being neglected for years under the washing machine, where he ended up after crashing into the asteroid field, he traveled back in time with the intention of causing Armageddon as revenge. Rex in turn sends Emmet under the washing machine, in order to guarantee his own existence, but Lucy escapes from the closet and saves Emmet from Rex. The latter, seeing that Lucy ultimately saved Emmet, and thus his past self, redeems himself just as Lord Business did in the past, but he and his timeline are erased from existence.

Wello Ke-Wuoglio and Batman finally get married, represented by Finn and Bianca reconciling with each other by agreeing to play together again. Their mother returns their LEGO sets and the LEGO universe transforms into a mash-up of Apocalypseburg and Sister System. Emmet's dream house is rebuilt and Lucy reveals that she was one of the original artists of Her It's Wonderful, leaving Emmet stunned.
