Red Hand of Ulster
Appearance
The Red Hand of Ulster (Irish: Lámh Dhearg Uladh) is a symbol used in heraldry[1] to represent the Irish province of Ulster.[2]
Design
[change | change source]It is an open hand coloured red, the fingers are pointing upwards and the thumb is parallel to the fingers, while the palm is facing forward. The red hand is usually shown as a right hand, but is sometimes a left hand, such as in the coats of arms of baronets.
