Cluj County (Romanian: Județul Cluj, Hungarian: Kolozs megye) is a county of Romania, in Transylvania. The capital of Cluj County is Cluj-Napoca. About 755,000 people live in Cluj County.
Geography
[change | change source]It is located in northwestern Romania. Its county seat is Cluj-Napoca (310,243 residents). Its neighboring counties are Bihor County to the west, Mureș County and Bistrița-Năsăud County to the east, Sălaj County and Maramureș County to the north, and Alba County to the south.
The total area is 6,674 km². One-third of its land is mountainous in the southwestern part of the county, the Munții Gilău (part of the Transylvanian Middle Mountains) with peaks over 1,800 meters. The most important rivers are the Someșul Mic, the Arieș, and the Crișul Reped.
