To Be a Hero (ヒーローになるために Hīrō ni Naru Tame ni?) is the fifth episode of the Combatants Will Be Dispatched! anime.

Summary[]

Six and Alice have been exposed by Snow as a Kisaragi spies. Expelled from the Royal Army, they rent a house to be their hideout and begin their final mission, the installation of a teleportation machine. Meanwhile, the Demon Lord's army has begun preparing for a total attack on the Kingdom of Grace.

Plot []

Snow opens Six's and Alice's door after hearing the are spies. Six tries to change the subject subject, but Alice tells him it is hopeless. In respect for everything they done to the kingdom, Snow expel them without questions. Later Snow, now the royal guard captain again after Six departed, reflects about her greed and how she became captain again, is called by Rose and Grimm, who informs her about the Demon Army, as Snow regrets never listen Six's side of the story. Meanwhile, Six and Alice rent a house as their hideout, and after fight for the rooms, Alice tells him that, now that the spy mission is over, it's time to construct the teleporter.

After seeing Six worried about his ex-subordinates, Alice asks with something is bothering him, but Six conceals it. Alice advices that without them, the Demon Army might attack, and Six thinks it's well done for Snow until Alice remembers that she might have save them from execution. At the end Alice says she doesn't like the place they will conquer being destroyed by anyone else, and tell him to do whatever he want, since it'll take a month to the portal works. Six starts to harass women at night opening his pants zipper in order to get Evil Points, until he find one who wants the does more than that, being interrupted by Snow and Rose, who scold him while Rose asks why he left, answering it happened because Snow's constant harass and he wants to get stronger to Demon Lord's invasion, infuriating Snow, who says she doesn't want his help.

The following day, while walking on streets, Six discovers he got famous as the "Zipperman", and is bothered by some kids. Back home, while even Alice mocks "Zipperman", she tells him to use all his Evil Points besides 200 on mines, planting them in the way the Demon Army will use to the invasion, with one specially customized to Heine. Back to the city, Six and Alice discover that the Chosen One, alongside a Four Heavenly Kings, are missing after being teleported. After leaning the details and reflects about the isekai genre clichés, Six and Alice realizes it was their fault for stealing his victory on Duster Tower. After think about their options about what to do next, they decide to run away.

While preparing themselves to leave, Six and Alice are visited by Princess Tillis, who after confirm they are spies by asking and threatening them, request them to tell the others about their kingdom and the danger of the Demon Lord, since they might not exist for too much long. Back to the castle by Tillis request, they are saluted by Rose and Grimm, alongside Snow. After confirming he leaved because Snow's sexual harassments, Six tells he is back by Tillis' request and they'll run away if it gets dangerous and tells them to do they same since they will be on the battlefront. Snow tell him they're ready to sacrifice themselves, but after Rose and Grimm hesitates, Snow gets angry and began to argue and fight against Six, as Rose concludes they always do it because they like each other.

The day of the invasion, the army prepares themselves to the fight while, in the Princess' room, Six and Alice have a relaxed chat about unicorns alongside a worried Tillis. Meanwhile, the Demon Army, lead by Heine of the Flame and Gadalkand of the Earth approaches, but find the mines planted by Six and Alice, whine Heine finds the one prepared to her alongside her missing magacite. During their chat, Tillis offers show her magic powers to Six and Alice she can just do once a day, but gets distracted when Six gets Evil Points for the mines, believing it was a trap he did for the kids who called him "Zipperman". At the end, the Demon Army come in later than expected, lead by a furious Heine. In the post credit scene, Belial complain to the other generals about her new "pets" she recruited, who always fight each other, one having a hero aura, the other, a mutant one.
