Mr. Matt Wilhelm was George Costanza's supervisor while working as assistant to the travelling secretary at Yankee Stadium, portrayed by late Richard Herd. He reported directly to George Steinbrenner.
Story[]
In "The Bottle Deposit", Wilhelm gave George a big project to do, but George didn't hear what the project was. Eventually, he did the project himself while he wasn't taking his medication, and George got the credit. George was taken off to an institution, because of how the project was done and it disturbed Steinbrenner. He claims that George is his protégé after George's lousy speech on management. Mr. Wilhelm would also be abducted by a carpet sweeper cult, being renamed Tania. It is unknown how he escaped, or even if he escaped at all.
In "The Millennium", George drives around the parking lot, ranting, and dragging the World Series trophy behind his car. Mr. Wilhelm claims that he ordered him to do it so he can be fired and become the new Head Scouting Director of the Mets. George was offered the same position, suggesting that the offer may have been illegitimate, a ploy to get the Yankees management to sabotage themselves.
In "The Finale, Part 2", Wilhelm appears for the final time, along with numerous other characters. He sits in the back of the courtroom. While the jury is out, he eats with Steinbrenner at a restaurant and appears to be trying to calm him down as he is arguing with the waiter.
