After more than two months of baking deep dish pizzas for to-go orders, Phinney Ridge’s Windy City Pie is dangerously close to opening. The restaurant opened last night for a few hours at dinner time, and the full-fledged arrival will happen on Wednesday, April 3.

Windy City Pie moved out of its cramped walk-up counter inside Interbay’s Batch 206 Distillery’s Batch Bar on December 31. It’s been replaced by Oaky’s Tex Mex, from the owners of Wood Shop BBQ.
The pizzeria took over the former home of Phinney Market Pub and Eatery, which closed in July at 5918 Phinney Ave. N. Unlike Batch Bar, this is an all-ages place, with a full bar paying homage to Chicago and seating for 63, plus another dozen at tables on the front sidewalk. Owner Dave Lichterman has installed booths, for that classic pizzeria feel, and drastically improve the flow of the kitchen for his staff.
