Pirkkala (Swadish: Birkala) is a municipality o Finland.
It is locatit some 10 kilometre (6 mi) sooth-wast frae Tampere in the province o Wastren Finland an is pairt o the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality haes a population o 20,491 (28 Februar 2023)[2] an covers an aurie o 104.04 square kilometre (40.17 sq mi) o which 22.66 km2 (8.75 sq mi) is watter.[1] The population densitie is 251.79 inhabitants per square kilometre (652.1/sq mi). Pirkkala is currently the fastest growin municipality in Pirkanmaa region.
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is locatit in sooth-wast Pirkkala an is currently the seicont maist important internaitional airport in Finland efter Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

Suur-Pirkkala began tae split when new parishes an municipalities wur foondit. In the year 1922 the remainins o Suur-Pirkkala wur split intae Pohjois- an Etelä-Pirkkala (Northren an Soothren). In 1938 the name o Northren Pirkkala wis chyngit tae Nokia an Soothren Pirkkala restored its oreeginal Pirkkala name.
Present-day region o Pirkanmaa is named efter Pirkkala.
