Ivanovo (Roushie: Ива́ново) is a ceety an the admeenistrative center o Ivanovo Oblast, Roushie. Population: 409,300 (2010 Census preliminary results); 431,721 (2002 Census); 481,042 (1989 Census).

Ivanovo wis creatit bi mergin the auld flax-processin veelage Ivanovo (first documentit in 1561) wi the industrial Voznesensky Posad in 1871. Til 1932, its offeecial name wis Ivanovo-Voznesensk. Acause o its textile manufacturin industry, Ivanovo earned the sobriquet o the "Roushie Manchester" durin the 19t century.[8]

Bi the early 20t century, Ivanovo competit wi Łódź (an' a' a pairt o the Roushie Empire at that time) for the teetle o the primary textile production centre in Europe.
