About Sarah Maker
Hi friends! Sarah here, creator of SarahMaker.com.
My obsession with yarn crafts started early, thanks to my grandma – a phenomenally talented crocheter who always sent me home with the coziest handmade afghans. She taught me the basics of crochet when I was just 9 years old. And while I didn’t quite get the hang of it then, those early lessons lit a creative spark that never went away.
I’ve been avidly knitting since 2009. I distinctly remember my first knitting project as a college student – a lumpy red scarf, riddled with dropped stitches. I still adore it, mistakes and all.
Later as an adult, I re-learned crochet with a few library books and lots of trial and error. I’ve been hooked ever since! Currently, I’m working towards becoming a certified crochet instructor.
Now, I can’t get enough of either craft! My office is overflowing with yarn (send organizing tips, please!), and my four kids have more handmade sweaters than they know what to do with.
I started SarahMaker because I wanted to create a crochet resource that’s super easy for beginners to understand. I aim to use high-quality photos and well-organized tutorials to make learning crochet frustration-free. My goal is to give new crocheters the confidence to make awesome projects and feel the total joy of creating something with their own two hands.
And that’s just the beginning! I’m so excited to continue growing this passionate fiber arts community and introducing more people to the magic of making.
