About Pio Manzù

Pio Manzù was born in Bergamo in 1939 and died in a car accident in 1969 at the age of 30. He was a promising design talent and the son of the famous sculptor Giacomo Manzù. After his studies in Milan, he won the international car design competition organized by Année Automobile magazine in Geneva at the age of 23 with his design of the Austin Healey 3000 car. Pio Manzù collaborated with famous brands in product design and created iconic objects such as the Cronotime clock and the Parentesi floor lamp. Some of his projects remained only as sketches and prototypes but were later modified and produced posthumously, including the famous Parentesi lamp.
