Bring your dish to the next level with the best toum in Washington DC!
Toum, the garlic sauce
Toum is an airy, pungent whipped garlic sauce, originated from Lebanese cuisine. Made with just 2 main ingredients, garlic and grapeseed oil, this simple condiment will take your food to the next level! Toum is actually more like a spread than a sauce, due to its thickness. It will be a superb highlight to chicken or any other grilled meat and giro wraps, or, along with other dips, it can be served platter-style with flatbread and toast. Once you try this easy recipe, you’ll be using this dip in all sorts of ways!
Step 1. Ensure that all ingredients are at room temperature for a more reliable outcome. Add garlic and salt in the food processor and run until finely chopped for 10-20 seconds.
Step 2. With processor running, drizzle in 5 tablespoons of oil, and process until blended.
Step 3. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and process for about 30 seconds. Lemon helps to emulsify the structure of the sauce so the oil doesn’t overpower the garlic.
Step 4. Without stopping the processor, slowly drizzle in remaining oil and process until fully blended. Add remaining 1 tablespoon of lemon juice; pulse to combine.
Step 5. Cover and chill until ready to serve, up to 1 day.
