We sat inside near the bar across from the beautiful display of local tomatoes. Everyone said, “order the tomato dish” so I figured I should give it a go. I had no idea tomatoes could taste so intense and unlike each other!There was also a pork and bean dish with corn fritters and a barbacoa tamale that blew our minds. We thought all the food was excellent. The only dish we didn’t like was a dish we wouldn’t have ordered if not for the recommendation of a friend we once trusted but now realize has very different tastes than us. (Tamale with two moles.) Our server helped us pick some dishes that were more suited to our tastes and we had our mind blown by something we typically wouldn’t have tried: atole soup! Made a reservation here and unfortunately missed our time because, unlike all the other good restaurants in Oaxaca, and pretty much any other online booking platform, they will not send you reminders of your booking time (and then charge you, so you’ve been warned). If that wasn’t enough, when I emailed staff about this issue (you’d think they’d appreciate the feedback), I found them to be quite rude. I try to make a habit of only leaving good reviews on Google but in this case, Levadura de Olla deserves the exception. Service: 1
