The soul (魂, Tamashī) is the portion of a human being made from other worldly substance.

Description

After a human dies, they leave behind energy that manifests itself in the form that a person took at the point of their death. The soul doesn't contain one's consciousness. Instead, it's an epicureanism soul that is a part of the body and dies along with a person's death.

When a human dies, an angel will pick up the human's soul and fly it to the Celestial Realm, then drop the soul in an unknown large body of liquid where the soul is stored. It's unknown what will happen if the soul is left in a person's dead body.

Since God created humanity, God believes that it's his responsibility to record every human's existence by preserving the moment of their death. The Celestial Realm serves as God's personal obituary archive for humans. Shuji Nakaumi, while in control of God's body, after seeing a pile of souls submerged in an unknown large body of liquid, describes them as just "copies" when questioning the angels about the purpose of the soul.

Angels don't have a full understanding of the reason why souls are preserved.

Gaku Yoneda correctly assumed that the soul is just an illusion created by God and that there is no true heaven or hell. He also theorized that it would take 150 years for humanity to have the capability of understanding the physics behind the matter that God, angels, souls, the arrows, and everything that exists in the Celestial Realm is made from to have the ability to produce replicas.

The soul is based on Epicurus's theory of what the soul is. This ancient Greek philosopher hypothesized that the soul is made from physical matter instead of being immaterial, follows the laws of physics that governs the universe, that the soul is physically a part of the body like any other body part, the body is a vessel that is needed in order for the soul to have sensation, and that once a person dies, so does their soul.
