Not to be confused with the ship S.S. Shepherd Erma Shepherd is a character introduced in Pikmin 4. She is the captain of the Rescue Corps Crew that was sent to save Captain Olimar.

Her home planet is Giya. She was saved by a rescue pup, one presumably similar to Oatchi, when she was young. She can be found by the player in a cave on the way to the S. S. Shepherd.

Story

Shepherd is first found in the Burrow of Beginnings, up a tree surrounded by three Bulborb Larvae. The player must use Oatchi to kill them, then Shepherd will climb down from the tree and greet the player and Collin.

Mechanics

Shepherd will allow the player to improve Oatchi's skills in exchange for Pup Drive while at the Rescue Command Post. After training is complete, she will reward the player with a scrummy bone.

Trivia

• Shepherd is second notable female character to be introduced after Brittany in Pikmin 3.
• Similar to the rest of the Rescue Corps, she is named after a species of dog, that being a German shepherd.
