Housed on a prominent Grand Ave. corner, Snapback is serving some of the best pizza in Phoenix. Founder and chef Ryan Moreno, aka the Hungry Homie, got his start slinging pies at various pop-up events around Phoenix, and has created a permanent home at Snapback. Described as a cross between Neapolitan and New York-style pizza, this casual window service establishment has daily special pies and pepperonis that are almost as big as the slice itself. Snapback is open until midnight Tuesday to Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Gracie’s is the dive bar that rivals all dive bars. The former tax service office turned bar opened in 2017 from local musician Grace Perry, and has been killing it ever since. Bathed in a sultry red light inside and littered with discarded lawn furniture outside, Gracie’s challenges the not-so-positive dive bar food narrative. The kitchen is open until 1 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, serving up dive classics like cheese curds, fried pickles, and a Bronx favorite —chopped cheese (including a vegan option).

This no-frills permanent food truck provides traditional, impeccably done Mexican plates well into the night. La Frontera 1 is open until 12:45 a.m. Sunday to Tuesday and 1:45 a.m. the rest of the week. In a city flush with great Mexican food, La Frontera’s al pastor taco holds its own. They serve staple mariscos dishes until close (a rarity), and their $2-4 agua frescas (jamaica, horchata, lemonade) are extremely generous. Don’t forget to bring cash, as there is a card surcharge.

The Sonoran-style hot dog is an iconic Arizona dish, consisting of a Mesquite-smoked and bacon-wrapped hot dog, tucked in a bolillo-style bun and topped with beans, mayonnaise, chopped tomatoes, guacamole, salsa, and cheese. A small stand tucked away on the southwest corner of 20th Street and Indian School called Nogales Hot Dogs No.2 is offering some of the best Sonoran dogs in the valley. Owner Pablo Perez has been in the Sonoran hot dog biz for over a decade and knows exactly what he is doing.
