Kid Sister

Kid Sister’s long-awaited debut in Phoenix does not disappoint. Helmed by former Valentine export Courtney Lewandrowski and her sister Casey, along with their co-owner Dej Lambert, the space is tucked away just off 7th Street in the former Wyld Ass location. Kid Sister is a welcome addition to the Phoenix wine scene, reminiscent of a chic LA or European wine bar, complete with a menu of killer bites by Chef Isaac Mendoza. Sip on a chilled orange wine and enjoy Chef Mendoza’s ever-changing menu of inventive small plates. Quickly becoming one of the most popular spots in the Valley, with only 38 seats, it fills up fast — so be prepared for a possible wait.

Sauvage

Sauvage has quickly become a darling of the Phoenix wine scene — and for good reason. Housed in the more than 100-year-old Helen Anderson House off McDowell, Sauvage’s interior has visitors loving its light-filled nooks and crannies, with an aesthetic somewhere between a grandma’s cottage and a chic plant shop. Sauvage does a remarkable job of making both local Arizona wines and hard-to-find labels accessible and enjoyable to local audiences. They also frequently hosts food pop-ups and DJ events throughout the week.

Postino (Multiple Locations)

Postino has reached peak “basic” status, and for good reason. Whether it’s their unbeatable $25 board and bottle nights (yes, that’s $25 for an entire bottle of wine and a board of four bruschettas) or the wide selection of wines from around the world, Postino delivers consistently good service at all their locations. Their sommeliers are always on hand to suggest selections for any palate — no matter how picky.

Bar 1912

While 1912 doesn’t exclusively focus on wine, its selection is impressive, with a strong emphasis on European labels. They offer a wide variety of whites and orange wines, and they frequently highlight Arizona wines through pairing events throughout the year. Their careful curation includes a quality selection of value labels, making it a go-to spot for both casual sippers and wine enthusiasts alike.

Hidden Track Bottle Shop & Wine Bar

Hidden Track recently made waves after closing its downtown Phoenix location earlier this year after almost a decade, but owner Craig Dziadowicz has used the opportunity to focus solely on their Uptown Phoenix location — and it’s been paying off. Good wine remains at the heart of their mission, but after bringing on new chef Marco Di Santo late last year, the spot has really stepped up its menu since its initial opening. The food menu now features a variety of tinned fish-based dishes (or conservas), tapas, and influences from Di Santo’s Chinese heritage, like Chinese smashed pickles and tea eggs.

Unfiltered Natural Wine and More

Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix inside the lobby of 111 W Monroe, Unfiltered Natural Wine presents itself as a colorful and approachable space. While technically a bottle shop by day, Unfiltered frequently hosts tastings and other wine-focused events. For the latest updates on events, be sure to check their Instagram.

Rift Bar

This casual South Scottsdale outpost is the perfect hideaway from the chaos of Old Town. Just off Scottsdale Road, Rift Wine Bar is a true locals’ hangout. Part bottle shop, part tasting room and lounge, Rift offers a wide selection of wines by the glass and bottles for purchase to enjoy there or at home. While they don’t typically serve food, there’s often a food truck posted up out front — an ideal way to complement the wine.

Los Milics

Los Milics has a show-stopping tasting room down in Elgin, Arizona, about three hours from Phoenix. But for those who can’t make the trip, their newly opened Old Town Scottsdale tasting room is the next best thing. Featuring their most up-to-date vintages from 100% Arizona-grown grapes, Los Milics represents Arizona wine at its best. The tasting room is a dark and simple space that mirrors the striking modernism of their Elgin location while adding a Scottsdale touch. Owner and operator Pavel Milic, who also runs the wildly popular nearby FnB, brings his industry expertise to this venture, making it a must-visit spot for wine lovers.

Far Away Wine And Provisions

Far Away Wine is the kind of place where everyone seems to know each other, but don’t let that deter you — it’s like being welcomed into a friend’s cozy living room, only this one has walls lined with bottles from all over the world. With a slightly kitschy, 90s coffee shop vibe, Far Away exudes casual charm. Despite the laid-back appearance, the staff knows their stuff and are experts at helping you find the perfect bottle. They’re also pros at pairing wine with the healthy array of small dishes on offer.
