Some heavy-hitting talent's been lined up for City Paper's first-ever Great Sandwiches Event: they've got F&W Best New Chef 2014 Eli Kulp, Amis' Brad Spence (who's up for a James Beard Award tonight), and self-styled "sandwich artist" Scott Schroeder of South Philly Tap Room and American Sardine Bar, all scheduled to compete head-to-head in a Chopped-style sandwich contest. Union Transfer's hosting the event on Wednesday, May 28, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets ($35 a pop) include sandwich sampling, desserts, and drinks, with a portion of the proceeds going to Philabundance.
