SE Hawthorne noodle house Pho Dalat appears to have shuttered, according to accounts on Facebook, Yelp, and Instagram. The restaurant’s phone number has been disconnected, and the space itself looks pretty abandoned — someone has set up a makeshift car wash station in the parking lot, and it doesn’t seem like anyone is stopping him. Oregonian critic Michael Russell posted a picture of the restaurant with the caption “R.I.P.”
Pho Dalat was a Hawthorne standby for inexpensive bowls of steaming beef noodle soup and bun, and Yelp users often commended the restaurant for its welcoming service. Still, Pho Dalat rarely hit any of the best-of lists for Vietnamese restaurants, including Eater Portland’s and The Oregonian’s. The restaurant of the same name on NE Sandy remains open. Stay tuned for more details behind the restaurant’s closure.
