Turing phase

Phase completion estimate: October 2023

The Turing phase, named after computer science pioneer Alan Turing, introduces the V6 Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG V6) which innovates with Knowledge Assets to enhance information discovery, ownership, and verifiability. These advancements drive value in sectors such as supply chains, healthcare, and more. OriginTrail introduces ChatDKG, a framework for AI based on trusted knowledge, addressing generative AI models' (like ChatGPT) flaws, based on verifiable origin and trusted trail of information. Initially launched on OriginTrail's own blockchain - the NeuroWeb, the V6 DKG enables expansion to other EVM blockchains.

Q3 2023 - 2025

Metcalfe phase

“…it (LLM) unfortunately hallucinates most when you least want it to hallucinate. When you’re asking the important and difficult questions that’s where it tends to be confidently wrong. So we’re really trying hard to say how do we be as grounded as possible so you can count on the results?” - Elon Musk at Lex Fridman podcast

The truth, however, is an elusive concept, especially if attempted to be captured by a single organization/product. A better approach is through connectivity and transparency achieved by leveraging multiple open source technologies. Turing Award winner Dr. Bob Metcalfe explained this idea, saying,

“… through connectivity, decentralized knowledge graphs, blockchains and AI are converging — and it’s an important convergence, because it is going to help us with one of the biggest problems we have nowadays, which is the truth.”

DKGcon 2023 - Dr Bob Metcalfe: Seeking truth through connectivity

Inspired by Turing award winner Dr Bob Metcalfe and his pioneering work, including "Metcalfe's Law" and the creation of the first computer network, the OriginTrail Metcalfe phase aims to leverage network effects through building a web of verifiable Knowledge Assets for decentralized AI.

The Genesis period of the Metcalfe phase bootstraps growth of the AI-native V8 Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG V8), driving the verifiability of AI with its decentralized retrieval augmented generation (dRAG). Supported by a unique Knowledge mining system through the NeuroWeb blockchain, the Genesis period is followed by a “Convergence” period, which further leverages network effects via autonomous knowledge inferencing. The DKG V8 aims to offer a user-centric, trusted knowledge foundation with decentralized AI functionalities, enabling individuals and organizations to participate in a knowledge economy based on neutrality, inclusiveness, and usability - the core principles of the OriginTrail ecosystem.

Genesis - The V8 Foundation (Q4 2023 - 2025)

“When you connect things together, the value rises really fast because of all the possible connections that can be made, and the friction that’s reduced, and the collaboration that’s enhanced. So it’s good to bet on connectivity.”- Dr Bob Metcalfe

The Genesis period leverages connectivity to achieve network effects across the multi-chain OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph to reach a growth target of 1B Knowledge Assets. With the introduction of the community driven NeuroWeb blockchain supporting DKG growth, Genesis bootstraps the OriginTrail AI-Native version 8 for decentralized retrieval augmented generation (dRAG), introduced to drive a multi - modal LLM ecosystem of AI solutions. The V8 Foundation impact stages were initially described here and are now being expanded.

Genesis period targets:

  • 1B knowledge assets available on the DKG
  • Minimum 40% of TRAC circulating supply activated for utility
    • TRAC locked for network security: 100MM+ TRAC
    • Average security collateral per node: 300k+ TRAC

Impact base: Trantor (established in Q1 2024)

One of the prominent features of Trantor was the Library of Trantor, in which librarians indexed the entirety of human knowledge by walking up to a different computer terminal every day and resuming where the previous librarian left off.

Catalyst 1: Knowledge Mining

Incentivized growth of high-quality knowledge in DKG with Initial Paranet Offerings and Autonomous Knowledge Mining.

Catalyst 2: Delegated staking

Expanding inclusivity of DKG infrastructure by enabling TRAC stake delegation across all integrated chains.

Whitepaper 3.0

Verifiable Internet for Artificial Intelligence: The Convergence of Crypto, Internet and AI.

Link

This whitepaper presents a vision for the future of Artificial Intelligence through the concept of a Verifiable Internet for AI, leveraging synergies of crypto, internet, and AI technologies. It introduces the Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) and Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG) approach to ensure provenance, integrity, and verifiability of information utilized by AI. It aims to address the challenges posed by misinformation, data ownership, and bias inherent in AI, by synergizing neural and symbolic AI approaches with Web3 technologies.

Impact base: Terminus (established in Q2 2024)

The founding population of Terminus consisted of 100,000 especially healthy scientists, whose ostensible purpose was to publish an Encyclopedia Galactica in order to preserve science and technology. The lack of natural resources forced Terminians to develop extremely high-efficiency tech, as their knowledge due to their position as the inheritors of the Imperial Library allowed them to do so.

Catalyst 1: Multichain growth

Bringing DKG to any EVM compatible ecosystem with significant demand (more information in OT-RFC-17).
checkbox

Catalyst 4: ChatDKG.ai

Interact with DKG and its paranets using natural language and the power of multiple AI models and agents. Build your own Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG) product seamlessly.

Impact base: Gaia (established in H2 2024)

The human beings on Gaia, under robotic guidance, not only evolved their ability to form an ongoing telepathic group consciousness but also extended this consciousness to the fauna and flora of the planet itself, even including inanimate matter. As a result, the entire planet became a super-organism.

DKG V8

Scalable and robust foundation for enabling next stage of Artificial Intelligence adoption with Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG), combining symbolic and neural decentralized AI.

checkbox
Private data monetization with Knowledge Assets (Knowledge marketplace)

Convergence (2025+)

“... through connectivity, decentralized knowledge graphs, blockchains and AI are converging - and it’s an important convergence, because it is going to help us with one of the biggest problems we have nowadays, which is the truth”- Dr Bob Metcalfe

With the Genesis period completed the OriginTrail DKG will have a large enough number of Knowledge Assets created (1B) to kickstart the “Convergence”. Leveraging network effects, growth gets further accelerated through autonomous knowledge publishing and inferencing capabilities of the DKG, fueled by decentralized knowledge mining protocols of NeuroWeb. During the Convergence, supported by OriginTrail V8 with AI-native features and further scalability increase, the OriginTrail DKG grows the largest public Decentralized Knowledge Graph in existence, a verifiable web of collective human knowledge - the trusted knowledge foundation for AI.

Convergence period targets:

  • 100B knowledge assets available on the DKG
  • Minimum 60% of TRAC circulating supply activated for utility
    • TRAC locked for network security: 150MM+ TRAC
    • Average security collateral per node: 500k+ TRAC
