Shokugeki no Sanji: Crooked Cooks, Soba Salvation is the fifth in a set of spinoff one-shots created by Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma creators Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki.
Plot Synopsis[]
In the Flower Capital of Wano Country, the Straw Hat Pirates want to infiltrate themselves between the citizens to recruit allies in the mission against Kaidou. So they try to do some seemingly common jobs there, and Sanji comes up with the idea of opening a restaurant. Together with Usopp they go to a soba noodles kiosk in that area, Sanji notices that the food is served in inferior quality to the poorest people. That evening he then goes to tell the kiosk manager, who reveals himself to be linked to a local yakuza clan and threatens Sanji to leave the city. At this point the cook proposes a contest to the criminal, to who will cook the best soba; if Sanji wins he'll get his business, if he loses he'll have to leave town forever.
The next day he also meets Robin, Franky and Brook and they discuss what to do. Usopp discovers that the best ingredients are in the exclusive hands of the thugs they're challenging, so Sanji begins looking for an alternative and finds it at Kuri beach.
Several days later the soba battle begins in front of a crowd; whoever sells the most soba in three hours will win. At first all the customers turn to the bad guys stand, but then a girl lured by the aroma tries a dish of Sanji and passes out from the goodness of the food. Curious people ask him what the secret is and Sanji reveals a Dream Koi caught at the falls at the entrance to the island. Then everyone wants to try the dish, Sanji cooks more of it using the technique "Diable Eau Rotation" with his hands. The opponent is in shock at Sanji's success and smut, and is amazed when he hears his name called by Usopp. Turns out the thug is a huge fan of Sanji, two years earlier he had found his bounty poster on the beach and admired this cook making his way into the piracy. The three hours expire, the challenge is clearly won by Sanji who then opens his soba noodles kiosk inaugurating a successful business (especially with women).
