Time Out Market — a food hall brand from the same company as magazine Time Out New York — is planting a huge NYC location on the Dumbo waterfront. Called Time Out Market New York, the food hall has signed a lease for 21,000 square feet on two floors of Dumbo’s Empire Stores, the Post reports.
The new bilevel dining complex will feature three bars and an outdoor rooftop area looking out onto the East River and the Manhattan skyline. Between the indoor and outdoor spaces, it will have a whopping 520 seats. A roster of 20 different restaurants will be picked out by Time Out editors, but no finalized list has been announced yet, according to announcement from the company. Eater has reached out for further info.
The first Time Out market launched in Lisbon in 2014, and in addition to the upcoming Brooklyn location, Time Out markets will open in Miami in 2018 and Boston and Chicago in 2019.
Empire Stores, made up of seven renovated 19th-century warehouses, has been a big player in the push to make the Dumbo waterfront a dining destination. The complex currently houses Vinegar Hill House offshoot VHH Foods, Miami import Sugarcane, and Italian restaurant Cecconi’s, which comes from Soho House founder Nick Jones. Jones will soon also open Dumbo House in the property, a members-only dining and social club that will be the first Soho House location in Brooklyn.
Time Out Market New York is set to open later this year.
