Macchina, Sushi Roxx, The Topaz, Domo Taco, and More Open

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS — The team behind The Bedford and Roebling Sporting Club opened their first Manhattan project last week, Macchina. The Italian restaurant is focused on wood-fire oven pizzas like a white pie with potatoes, bacon, shallots, gorgonzola, and rosemary. MIDTOWN EAST — Clubsteraunt Sushi Roxx is officially open and rocking hard every night. Dinner from a Sushi of Gari alum is served amid a dance performance by servers, choreographed by former Knicks dancer and Pussycat Doll Asia Nitollano. EAST WILLIAMSBURG — Brandon Davey gutted a former bike shop to make room for his bar The Topaz, reports Bedford + Bowery. The space has a sort of western/desert vibe — there are animal skulls — and a softer edge with white lilies and small paintings placed around the rooms. House drinks include "the deadman's mask" (black cardamom bourbon, lemon, smoked honey, pineapple, Dead Sea salt) and the short food menu offers pork buns, a 45-minute sous vide egg, and a charcuterie board. BOERUM HILL — Mia's Bakery has taken over the old (and rather large) Coco Roco space on Smith Street. The sweets list includes cheesecakes and cookies, plus gelato, notes DNAinfo. Status: Soft open. 139 Smith Street.

MacDonough Cafe [Yelp]

OCEAN HILL — Husband and wife duo Benoit and Nadia Busseuil recently opened MacDonough Cafe. The project, which offers avocado toast, sandwiches, and salads, is rather family focused with coloring books, and plans to add a "story time" area for parents and kids around closing, reports DNAinfo. CROWN HEIGHTS — Domo Taco opened its first brick and mortar location last week, serving Asian-influenced Mexican fare like fish tempura, five spice pork, and lemongrass chicken, in burritos and tacos. A liquor license is still in the works, reports Brownstoner. Status: Certified open. 733 Franklin Avenue

UPPER EAST SIDE — Aussie coffee chain Bluestone Lane is now operating a cafe in The Church of Heavenly Rest. In addition to coffee and flat whites there's a "brekkie board" with avocado toast, blueberry cardamom chia pudding, and a granola bowl with Greek yogurt, notes DNAinfo. The team has also applied for a beer and wine license. Status: Certified open. 2 East 90th Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE — Sweets shop Treat House just opened with lots of Rice Krispy treats uptown. Status: Certified open. 1566 2nd Avenue.
