Through a nuanced examination of these works, the paper seeks to illuminate Ghosh's portrayal of marginalized voices and his exploration of the intricate dynamics of subaltern experiences. "The Circle of Reason" and "Sea of Poppies" are particularly apt for this analysis as they delve into the lives of characters from diverse backgrounds, shedding light on their struggles, aspirations, and interactions within complex societal frameworks.

Hi... more Education plays a vital role in moulding an individual towards desirable changes in behaviour. Higher education is for holistic life and not for mere living and such learning environments are more opted and classrooms play a vital role in it. Nevertheless, the epidemic COVID-19 brought a drastic change in the typical classroom teaching and learning throughout the world which questioned the status of offline teaching. To flatten the curve, a cessation occurred in traditional educational system, which resulted in complete lockdown, switching over to online mode, with insistence on social distancing. This emphasis on implementation of e-learning in education brought a shift in the perspectives on language teaching and learning. Gradually, in 2021, offline mode of teaching and learning began again and at present a hybrid teaching methodology is chosen by many institutions and teaching professionals. This paper attempts to assess the novelty implemented by the researcher while teaching English language in a higher educational institution and analyses the difference in perspectives in 'Pre, During and Post' COVID 19 period.

PREFACE
“Advanced Skills for Communication in English: Book I” is a textbook intended for the second language learners who wish to learn English but have a less environment in conversing with others in English. To make them face the competitive world, each chapter of this book is clearly structured with a strategic approach to learn the target language through all the skill areas – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing from the basic level. It also prepares the learners in Business English for effective communication not only as students during their collegiate days but also as employees after being employed.
English is, infact, a world language now. So, the objective of this text is to provide crucial support for English language learners in enhancing and equipping them with the basic communication skills which in turn will help them to converse effectively in the target language and be employable. As per the statement “Action is the language of commitment; it speaks louder than words”, the book with its worksheet is based on learning process followed by the functional application in the classroom. The book includes a lot of exercises which enables precious language practice; of course an immense help for the learners in learning English.
We thank our Management, our Principal and Director (S.F.Courses) for granting us permission and providing us an opportunity in bringing out the textbook.

The students of current age also expect such a miracle in language learning so as to fit them in a promising placement after obtaining a degree. The transformation in all the fields in the recent decades stresses the implementation of an innovative language teaching at the tertiary level. The current practices in learning English have become an issue during the learners' campus recruitment as today's learning is measured by what they are able to write on the content. The present syllabus, teaching and the evaluation procedure of it focuses mainly on increasing students' content knowledge with less focus on enhancing communication skills. Hence, the study is an attempt to augment the learners' communication skills to make them more employable; and the researcher made a functional application of interactive teaching methodology in the language classroom for a few months. To prove its validity, the impact of the methodology on the learners is analyzed statistically using Descriptive Analysis and Paired T-Test.

Learning L2 involves social aspects which has impact on the learners' language. The most effective way to teach English is to help the learners forget their emotional barriers to learning. An interactive environment in ESL classrooms makes them come out of their inhibition and speak freely. Social media provides the learners with the possibilities of participating in real – time online conversations; which in turn is a practice to achieve the target language with or without the help of an experienced teacher by his/her side. The students are therefore invited to emerge in activities which require the use of language that result in learning. A study has been done by the researchers to highlight the positive effect of social media on language development using 20 under – graduate first year samples of V.H.N.Senthikumara Nadar College (Autonomous), Virudhunagar. By nurturing social media communication skills of the samples, language learning takes place with active participation of the virtual community and the teacher.

Chinua Achebe was a distinguished Igbo (Ibo) novelist, renowned for his unsentimental depiction of the social and psychological renovation associated with the imposition of western customs, education and values upon traditional African society. His particular concern is with evolving Africa at the moment of crisis. Similar to the diasporic experience, the modernity is contested and out of this conflict, new identities with a firm moral order out of changing values are constructed. Achebe’s fourth novel A Man of the People (1966) exemplifies his goal of social realism; and it is an attempt to restore the lost dignity of his people by allowing his readers to examine their past and to resolve what he terms a ‘crisis in the soul’. To achieve a realistic effect, Achebe created the protagonist Odili Samalu, a representative of the new intellectual generation in opposition to the Chief Nanga, Odili’s former teacher, a representative of the old bush politicians. The realization of Odili that the country could be made much better if he went up against “a man of the people” who in reality was “a man against the people” and the subsequent events foreshadow the Nigerian Revolution of 1966. The paper examines how the political, social and economic unrest relate to the transition in the context of a post-colonial African country as depicted in A Man of the People.

English, being the lingua franca of the world plays a vital role during the recruitment process of most companies. Even some courses demand fluency in English as one of the selection criteria and present educational institutions are in necessity of equipping learners with necessary skill sets. Language teachers at K-15 levels have integrated various forms of technology to prop up their teaching, fit in students in the learning process, afford valid examples of the native / target culture, and connect their classrooms to classrooms in other countries where the target language is spoken. Clarity Snet Language Lab is a network based teaching software which not only facilitates the teaching process but also brings fun and efficiency to learning. In this study, the researchers analyze the power of technology using Clarity Snet software in enhancing language learning among the second language learners. The research was conducted on the selected samples of UG students (English and Information Technology) in the English Language Laboratory of V.H.N.Senthikumara Nadar College. Descriptive analysis and Differential analysis were used for statistical treatment. This research is an effort to upgrade students of slow learners’ category and to make language learning more energetic.

This resulted in a World Literature, which responded to the new era, dealing with the different gloomy faces of modern society. Indian novelists also dealt with new subjects of human existence and man’s quest for self in all its complicated situations. Chetan Bhagat, a famous successful Indian author of this century, uses his novels as tools to express his views and opinions about the social contradictions in the society. His second book One Night @ The Call Centre revolves around a group of six call centre employees working in Connexions Call Centre in Gurgeon, Haryana. The novelist claims women empowerment as one of the optimistic upshots of globalization; but at the same time, his novel upsets our traditional culture which is an unavoidable impact of globalization, modernization and corporate exploitation. This paper is an attempt to bring out the feminine anxieties and insecurities in corporate sectors. It is also a study on the challenges and conflicts faced by modern women in the society with regard to their career, marriage and family.

Sapir’s theory emphasizes the power of language which determines thought and cognitive process of an individual. The structure of the language hence affects the ways when the speakers conceptualize their thoughts. Employees with impressive writing and speaking skills are of great demand in today’s job market. So, it is high time for the performers to equip themselves with the weapon of language for effective communication. When searching for such kind of language acquisition, the importance of ESP (English for Specific Purposes) emerges. This paper is an attempt to render English as a respectable language for expressing complex and personal ideas, and bringing out unexpected transformation by enhancing communication competency of the performers through content - based material.

Rasipuram Krishnaswami Iyer Narayanaswami was the epitome of creative writing in India. His novels have a bi-cultural outlook in which the conflict between the ancient Indian traditions with its values on the one side and modern western values on the other side were obvious. He had compassionate attitude towards women though he was conservative in outlook and temperament. His first Sahitya Akademi Award winning novel The Guide is the spiritual odyssey of a human world. The three major characters Marco, Rosie and Raju were concerned with the revival of native Indian undying faith in God and integrity. Rosie epitomizes an Indian woman oscillating between tradition and modernity but she is quite successful aesthetically, personally and socially in her dancing. This paper deals with the emergence of a novel woman from being a modest lady to a self-reliant woman, as exposed through the character Rosie. It is also an attempt to assess how effectively the novel displays and treats the variance between the East–West theme, a perennial one in Indo-Anglian fiction.
Key words: bi-cultural outlook, native undying faith, spiritual journey, emergence of novel woman, East-west theme.

The magic impetus behind the employment scenario today is the word of spell -“Employability”. The... more The magic impetus behind the employment scenario today is the word of spell -“Employability”. The concept of employability has been in the literature for many years. Current interest has been driven
by the changing nature of public employment policy, with increasing emphasis being given to skillsbased solutions to economic competition and work-based solutions to social deprivation.
The term “employability” refers to a person‟s capability of gaining initial employment, maintaining employment and obtaining new employment if required. The employability of an individual depends on the KSA – Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes that one possesses; the way in which these three assets are used and presented to the employers; crucially, the context (for instance-personal circumstances and labour market environment) within which one seeks work.
The changing nature of the work environment, the emergence of technology-driven processes and the diversified needs are the challenges to the ability of College and University students to meet the
demand for employable higher order learners. In the current global job market, employability skills bag the first place. These skills can be termed as „Soft Skills‟ which are given utmost importance in
campus proceedings. Many learners need various forms of support to overcome the physical and mental barriers to learn English for personal development. It was one of the pillars of the
Employment Strategy until the reformulation in 2000 along with entrepreneurship, adaptability and equal opportunities since the skills are the global currency for a globalizing world.
What we need is a “Thought Shift” from employment to employability; from providing fish to teaching how to fish. Our progress will not be worth of the trip if we do not give a majority of our students the strength and self-esteem that comes with a job. The journey has just begun with regard to the challenge of linking Education to Employability in the global knowledge economy. As per the recent researchers view, language teaching and learning is more effective if the curriculum is styled
to suit the learner needs and if the learners are given greater responsibility for their learning process.

by the changing nature of public employment policy, with increasing emphasis being given to skillsbased solutions to economic competition and work-based solutions to social deprivation.

Rohinton Mistry, a writer of Indian Diaspora reflects the crisis of self-identity and aspects of immigration in his writings. He belonged to Parsi community of Indian origin but migrated to Canada in his early twenties. As a Parsi-Indian and Canadian writer in the new social milieu, he faces many challenges. He carves out the pain and sufferings of immigrant writers who migrate from India for better education, career prospects and for other reasons which make them more and more strong through his characters in his writings. His first full-blown novel Such a Long Journey, which is shortlisted for the prestigious Booker Prize, reveals his deep concern for the Parsi community in India and for the post-colonial India in general. The writer through the undisputed protagonist Gustad Noble, projects the moment when socio-political commotion in India under Indira Gandhi's regime spirals steadily into the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war and the ensuing succession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh. This paper examines the life of Parsi Indians in the turbulent early 1970's and the brilliant portrayal of Indian culture and family life against the backdrop of the subcontinent's volatile postcolonial politics.

This research is an effort to upgrade students of slow learners’ category and to make language learning more energetic.

rights of each and every individual, has been facing a
major crisis in the name of honour killing. The male
dominant society has its deep root in the Indian caste
system with its claim and target as women. History tells
us that child marriage and denial of love marriage with
an outsider, especially with a boy of low caste or
community has been the result of retaining the family‟s
wealth within their family. Parents, instead of being wellwisher
of their children voluntarily kill their daughter to
avoid shame falling on their family. This paper highlights
the problems associated with honour killing; and it brings
out practical solutions to lessen this evil so as to secure
women‟s rights without deviating from tradition.
