Jacqueline is Now Open at the Optimist. Summer’s Unofficially Here.

Plus: Philly cheesesteaks in the Nations, a Tanya Tucker tequila pop-up, and more

A white-washed sign that reads “Jacqueline” in yellow and red in the background and a hand raising an orange cocktail with a red straw in it up against the sign. Jacqueline
Jackie Gutierrez-Jones is the former editor of Eater Nashville. She has over a decade of experience writing, editing, and leading content teams in the food, drink, travel, and tech space.

Summer unofficially kicks off in Nashville when A) pools start to re-open and B) all of the city’s favorite temporary outdoor bars start to dust off their awnings. Falling squarely under option B: Jacqueline, the outdoor bar with a decidedly New England-in-July vibe at the Optimist.

The Germantown patio oasis has plenty of backyard lawn games on deck to accompany the summer-approved cocktails on the menu like the Aloha Ice with shaved ice, vodka, passion fruit, orange, and guava; a piña colada with fernet; and the Singapore Sling served in a coconut shell. Food options also take on a fresh, seasonal twist with ceviche, lobster rolls, smoked fish dip, and oysters.

Jacqueline is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Brotherly Love Cheesesteaks hosts a grand opening party in the Nations

Brotherly Love, which soft-opened in the Nations back in March, is hosting its official grand opening party this Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to midnight. Co-owned by Jeremy Smith, John Hoffman (Nadeen’s Hermitage Haven), and Nicholas Nathan, the shop shines a spotlight on Philly cheesesteaks which you can opt to have stuffed with chicken, buffalo-sauce-infused chicken, steak, or veggies, and then topped with Whiz, provolone, onions, and a variety of toppings.

Situated in Silo Studios —an 80,000-square-foot office, retail, and restaurant complex converted from an old lumber mill — Brotherly Love is a fast-casual operation with TVs airing game day matches, and an outdoor patio for al fresco beer, boozy milkshakes (nonalcoholic versions are available as well), and cocktails.

The grand opening event will feature live music from 4 to 8 p.m., cornhole games, and giveaways. Brotherly Love is located at 1610 54 Avenue N.

Tanya Tucker’s Tequila Cantina pops up at Nudie’s

Nudie’s Honky Tonk on Lower Broad is getting a tequila-swigging sidekick — Tanya Tucker is partnering with the long-time institution to open a cantina-style bar on the second floor. Launching May 2, the cantina will serve up a variety of cocktails using Tucker’s tequila, Cosa Salvaje, along with a dedicated Mexican-inspired menu by executive chef Bryan Lareau.

A longtime customer of Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors, Tucker shared her excitement via a press release, “I’m over the moon about Tanya Tucker’s Tequila Cantina. It’s been a dream for several years to join the big boys on Broadway and [Nudie’s owner] Bill and Shannon Miller are making it all possible.”
