Gulch Pioneer Watermark Will Relocate to SoBro Office Tower Late Next Year

Another longtime Gulch restaurant fixture is planning a big move, as Watermark, the fine dining spot that helped put the neighborhood on the map over ten years ago, plans to relocate late next year to the ground floor of the new Bridgestone Americas headquarters currently under construction in SoBro.

The new 30-story building, located at 210 4th Avenue South, will house Watermark on the ground floor, with the restaurant occupying roughly 8,000-square-feet at the corner of Demonbreun and Almond Streets. In a release, Hughes Brown, current director of operations at Watermark, says that “[a]fter 11 years in business, we are embracing change and growth to be able to give our customers the best possible experience[.]”

Brown opened Watermark in 2005 with his father, Jerry, with the restaurant garnering near-instant national attention for the city. But in recent years, as Nashville’s restaurant scene has exploded, the talk has turned more to the increasing frequency with which executive chefs have rotated in and out of its kitchen rather than the food coming from it. But the impending move, coupled with the recent addition of executive chef Elliot Cunniff, a veteran of the New York City dining scene, is a hard run at changing that perception, with Cunniff already making substantial changes to the menu.
