Future of the Wishlist Update

[edit]

Hello all, thank you for your messages about the survey and your patience in waiting for a response. We now have some information to share with you.

In summary, Community Tech would like to develop a new, continuous intake system for community technical requests that improves prioritization, resourcing, and communication around wishes. Until the new system is established, the Community Tech team will prioritize work from the recently audited backlog of wishes rather than run the survey in February 2024. We are also looking to involve more volunteer developers in the wishlist process, beginning with the first-ever community Wishathon in March 2024.

Please read the announcement in detail either on the Diff blog or MetaWiki, and give your feedback.

The new intake system will need your ideas and involvement, and we’ll reach out on this topic in the next few months.

We look forward to hearing from you. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 14:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pinging @Theklan, @Swpb and @StefenTower since we spoke this week about the matter. Have a good weekend all! –– STei (WMF) (talk) 14:36, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Would rather be interested what, if anything, you intend to do about getting more proposals of the many wishes&issues implemented, as pointed out here and here. Many things could be done including putting up a campaign-banner for volunteer devs on top of IT-related WP articles. Prototyperspective (talk) 22:40, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

2023 prioritization

[edit]

Hello! some months have gone and we are near to start thinking about the 2024 Wishlist. As no new wish from the past has been completed, I would like to ask if there's a 2023 prioritization, so we can see what are the wishes that has been chosen. Is it possible to see something like Community Wishlist Survey/Prioritization? Theklan (talk) 21:05, 6 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Theklan, the response to your questions depends on discussions that haven't been concluded yet. I will provide an update asap. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 12:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Theklan (talk) 09:53, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Do we have any clue on this? September has started, we are near the next wishlist survey, and we don't know about priorities. This is relevant, as we need to discuss how the process work before the next process starts. Theklan (talk) 21:17, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
As we are approaching December, it would be nice to know if the prioritization process has happen. Theklan (talk) 09:12, 25 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Would it be possible to have this before the year ends? It would be great. Theklan (talk) 09:09, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Theklan, sincere apologies for the lack of updates. It took time to consider the proposals presented during the Dismantle Wishlist conversations. By the end of this week, we should have some information for you. I hope your holidays were good. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 22:18, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Sandister. I will look after the updates. I wish you a happy new year. Theklan (talk) 22:22, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

2024 Survey schedule?
