Kuwait Partakes In Bahrain's 22 Sailing Yacht Tourney


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- The 22nd Bahrain Sailing Yacht Championship kicked off on Wednesday with the participation of Kuwait national team and seven other countries.
The Kuwaiti team came in third place in the Gulf ranks, and sixth in the championship.
Kuwaiti team Captain, Ali Bu Hamad, told KUNA that the start of the Kuwaiti team in this tournament was good, and that there was noticeable progress in the level of the players despite a technical malfunction in one of the boats.
Bu Hamad expressed hopes that the team's competitors would achieve the best results in the coming days, and be able to raise the Kuwaiti flag on the podiums.
Bu Hamad extended his sincere thanks to the Secretary of the Kuwait Marine Sports Club, Khaled Al-Foudari, and the sailing supervisor, Ibrahim Al-Furaih, for their efforts, support and training of the players, and keenness to improve their capabilities in this field.
The Captain also expressed thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Bahrain Marine Sports Federation for hosting and organizing this tournament.
The competitions organized by the Bahrain Marine Sports Federation will continue until December 14.
Eight countries are participating in the event: the Kingdom of Bahrain (host), United Kingdom, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Tunisia and Norway. (end)
