For Septembers styling the seasons share I went a little mad and didn’t stick to one corner but instead a whole room – our home office makeover. I have mentioned before that we were planning to paint the floor with some lovely bright ‘All White’ floor paint from Farrow and Ball and here is the finished room! The light in the room has been increased radically, which hopefully means a few extra minutes of photography time on darker days. On sunny days there are sunbeams bouncing around all over the place! It feel calmer and fresher in here now, the plants are thriving with all that extra white as a backdrop. My half of the desk has also taken on a paler feel. Going in to A/W it’s nice to have a tidy up and get ready for the hunkering down season. I always feel more inspired and keen to take on new projects at this time of year.We are working on lots of collaborative things for the shop at the moment too, so a clear desk is helping me stay on top of all those projects, (how long it will remain this ‘clear’ is uncertain). This salvaged table has been a perfect surface, saved from the tip, it is home to all our many plants when it’s not being used for shooting products or rustic entertaining. All the jewellery here is waiting to be sold at our vintage prop and jumble sale on the 4th of October, and it’s almost time for these ceramics to find their way in to the store too! Below I have finally found the ideal spot for our Lane twin tone lampshade, the fun flash of orange that glows out from the inside is a happy companion to our pots of Geraniums on the table. The beautiful linen bed sheet (curtain) below was from Toast, it started out life in a natural linen colour with subtle barely there white pinstripes, but after a year shielding us from the sun it was looking a bit faded in places.I threw it in the washing machine with a couple of packs of Dylon (machine dye) in antique grey. A couple of washes later it was a beautiful dark shade of pewter and I love how the light shines through it. I have been obsessing over some sheer darkness like this since I saw some similar charcoal drapes in an issue of Elle Decoration years ago. That torn magazine page can probably still be found all tatty and creased but saved in a drawer or scrapbook somewhere – waiting until my vision could be realised. I hope you liked that mini tour around the only room that is anywhere near finished in our home :)
