"Here's to the fools who dream"
La La Land is the movie I've been waiting for this year, and it is pure magic.
I walked into the theater as someone who isn't too fond of musicals, and I walked out of the theater absolutely smitten, even looking at an attitude change mirroring Mia's feelings on jazz. The film opens with an incredible, optimistic musical number on a crowded highway, and what a tone it sets for the whole movie. Each song tells it's own story and brings something new, drawing you in and tightening it's grip on your heart with every second that passes.
The cinematography is gorgeous and dreamlike, the production design is no different, and in the middle we have two magnetising performances from Ryan Gosling and Emma "give her the Oscar" Stone.
I left this movie with a rare feeling of pure joy and happiness, and my only issue is that I may have to wait another month before getting to watch it again.
La La Land is the movie of the year, and one of the best films I've ever seen.
