Starved of anything remotely interesting.
Folk Horror probably just isn’t for me—or, certainly when it’s done like this, it isn’t. Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark are both fantastic in their own rights, but I’ve never seen either of them so dull and void of character.
Whilst pretty atmospheric at times, Starve Acre builds up slowly, and ultimately doesn’t deliver on any of that build. I was waiting for something to happen, to change, to grip me, but it never came—and then the credits rolled.
Boring as hell, unfortunately. Oh well.
