Not scary as such, yet eerie and atmospherically outstanding. Brilliantly captured imagery, everything looks quite crisp and sharp, while at the same time dirty, gritty and dark, in tandem with great, dusky music and color schemes that perfectly capture and enhance the mood - The Witch is an audiovisual fever dream. A dirty, lonely, isolated and intimate play featuring superior acting, neat ideas, a creepy atmosphere and is extraordinarily eminently gorgeous. Two things are certain for sure: Robert Eggers is a master of moviemaking and The Witch is close to a masterpiece.
