I saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters when it came out and I liked it much more then than I do now. I seriously don't quite get why everyone loses their minds over this movie. I remember agreeing with the critics when it came out that it was a fun time, but people have not shut up about it. It's fine, but definitely not worth the hype.
There are a lot of very cool twists and the filmmakers do an incredible job creating sympathetic villains and engendering diversity on-screen, but the music is hit-or-miss and the art style takes a little while to get used to. The humor, while welcome, is pretty broad.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is like frozen mac-and-cheese. It's pretty good and will do in a pinch, but it's certainly not as good as mom used to make it. Stick with the first two Raimi films, or better yet, John Watts' Homecoming if you really want Spider-Man.
