I watched this because it is perpetually near the top of my "Most Popular with Friends This Week" list on Letterboxd, even though I have mixed feelings about Shane Black.
He certainly writes oddball partner back-and-forth better than a lot of people in the biz. It helps when you're aided by Gosling and Crowe chipping in some career funniest performances. Though real cast member punching above their weight is Angourie Rice who is perfect as the Penny to Gosling's bumbling Inspector Gadget (which I guess makes Crowe Brain?)
The noir vibes and 70s styles kept me watching, though the action goes over the top in a way that spoils the mood. Still, a lot of fun overall. I would watch a sequel for sure.
