supremely odd/cool sound design. seemingly rough at some points (a planted boom mic that isnt mixed against the blocking, a frequent motif?) though often futuristic, clashing against the period setting. phased/flanged room tone oscillating between shots, heavy pad chords, distant chamber-echoed strings…
Otherwise, opulent and dry until it leans into pure melodrama.

Liked this more than many modern documentaries. The concept is interestingly unwieldy and is handled with a refreshing confidence. It doesnt always hit, but when it does…
Edited like a loose groove, I’m glad this subject gets an in-depth treatment that could see cinematic longevity due to it also being good and interesting
