I’d heard plenty of praise for The Wild Robot, but I never anticipated it would impact me so deeply. The animation is exquisite—every character is brilliantly crafted, and the landscapes are absolutely breathtaking. The cast is exceptional, with Lupita Nyong'o truly shining as the wild robot herself. Pedro Pascal’s chemistry with Lupita is fantastic, and his role as Fink may just be his finest work outside The Last of Us.
What sets this film apart from more predictable stories is its honest exploration of self-discovery. The Wild Robot doesn’t shy away from exposing the harshness of a society that rejects anyone who doesn’t conform. But, with support from a kindred spirit, it shows us that we’re more than what the world assumes. That, even under the weight of judgment from those around us, we’re capable of greatness, that we have a place, and that we matter! So break free from limitations; don’t let others’ expectations define you! Honor your roots, but most importantly, honor yourself. Find purpose, no matter what form it takes.
