HAPPY 11 YEARS TO EVIL DEAD (2013) — APRIL 5, 2013.
the two newest Evil Dead films (this and 2023’s Evil Dead Rise) are some of my favorite horror movies because of the AMAZING practical effects and just how bloody they are. they represent how much effort goes into crafting a horror film when you have a passionate cast and crew behind it. i genuinely can’t wait for another Evil Dead film especially if they find a way to tie all the films together (and maybe even the series). the cinematography here is also stunning, as is the score. the performances are great too.
everything about this film is good and i really love the unrated version which adds an extra 6 minutes to the runtime. i need to get a new 4k disc of this film because mine skips a lot which is incredibly unfortunate, especially for this film, when it skips one of my favorite shots in a horror film ever (LINK HERE — potential spoilers but not really bc no faces can be seen).
anyway, i strongly urge everyone to check this underrated film out, and while you’re at it, check out the 2023 Evil Dead Rise too because both films have insane cinematography, great performances, thrilling scores, and fantastic practical effects.
