All I really need to start off with is… …there’s a reason why James Earl Jones really was one of the best actors around. He really had such an incredible presence, his voice was just powerful, and, regardless of what film he was in, he always did the best he could to elevate it. He will be dearly missed and he will continue to live on as one of the greatest. And of course, Mufasa was one of the biggest reasons why. Not only was he one of the best fathers ever put to film, but he always did the best he could to protect Simba and loved him dearly. He’s one of the biggest reasons why Jones still remains beloved to this day.
And what can I say about The Lion King that already hasn’t been said? Everything, from it’s story to it’s animation to it’s characters to it’s songs to it’s themes and especially it’s message is just PERFECT. It not only was one of Disney Animation’s crowning achievements 30 years ago, back in 1994, but it still remains one of its crowning achievements today. A perfect example of a timeless classic, and one that generations will come back to every single time. It’s a film that has not aged at all, and Jones’s phenomenal voice performance as Mufasa is one of the many reasons why. To Mr. Jones… …all I really need to say is thank you.
