This is a return to form for the scream franchise. It may not be as good as the first two but it is far better than the third.
Firstly, there are some aesthetic changes here. There is a lot more blood and gore perhaps to distinguish itself from the rest. The new characters are all very good and the returning characters do alright. Although I was not that invested in the mystery of who the killer was, I think the reveal was done well. I was surprised. I liked who it/they was/were.
That trademarked "Scream" self awareness is here and there are a lot pop culture references.
I dont think this one is particularly scary and I also believe the killer(s) did not get enough time to properly flesh out their character(s). I also believe this one did not get the ending I felt it deserved.
