Is it a well made movie? No, not really. Did I have a good time? Absolutely.
The script is bad, the jokes either land or they’re painfully cringey. It made me laugh pretty hard at times, but others felt so forced and poorly written I just had to take a second to myself. The fight scenes are fun to watch, well but overly choreographed, just not executed convincingly. There were several times it looked pretty clear to me they weren’t hitting each other or throwing real shit. I liked the concept well enough, fun story, but they did not need to throw that much heart at it. The slow-mo sad song moment at the end was sooooo ridiculous, I just kinda put my head in my hands and asked what the fuck this movie is trying to be.
I love Awkwafina, I fucking love John Cena, and they make as good a comedy duo in this as I was expecting. They’re funny when they’re not delivering forced one-liners.
