Jack Ryan is back, this time an IRA terrorist is hunting him down after Ryan thwarted a terrorist attack and killed his brother. The big noticeable change is that Harrison Ford is now playing Jack Ryan instead of Alec Baldwin. In fact, the only recurring actor from The Hunt for Red October is James Earl Jones. Despite the compelling premise, it's shockingly uninteresting for a thriller. The entire film felt sluggish, and the story lacks the needed momentum. I also didn't like how the film transformed Jack Ryan from a desk guy into a generic action hero. It's a competently made movie. But it lacks the same coolness and charm as The Hunt for Red October.
