I feel like Frances Ha is one of those films where your emotional connection with the film depends on identifying with the characters. The film knows how to capture the vibe of a late 20-something trying to survive in an expensive city. I really liked how concise Baumbach's and Gerwig's script is, clocking in at 86 minutes. It's very "straight to the point" and efficient with its time. Although, the script is light on substance. There's no big emotional reveal or anything like that, it's a straightforward slice-of-life story about a struggling dancer and her relationship with her best friend.
