A brilliant premise, hidden behind some of the worst acting you will ever see. With one exception: Isabelle Adjani is mesmerising as the 'falling apart at the seams' Anna.

Sam Neill and the rest... what on earth were you thinking? Bloody hell cobber!

Some way into the film I had a feeling I'd seen this before, but it was quite different to what I remember. Turns out there was a heavily cut US version release in '83, which might explain it. If you can ignore the overly dramatic, flamboyant, lifeless and just plain crap acting here, this is actually a pretty good movie.
