It's, like, fine. First half is not very good, I hate hate hate movies that are pitched to the same level of intensity/scope/pacing through the entirety, it's just numbing and dull to me and this is entirely that, the editing is annoying asf. Some moments are gorgeously cut, some are terribly cut, some look amazing, some look really ugly. Nolan is obviously not known for writing women well, this is the most glaring example of that, Pugh and Blunt are genuinely so goddamn embarrassing here in both what they're given (nothing) and what they bring to the table (nothing).
Second half is better tho! The scope and horror of these events are definitely felt at points, and well-communicated in a few scenes (the grandiose, intense music and cutting works for the grandiose, intense scenes, who woulda thought). There are also some decent payoffs in that last hour but this mostly felt like going through the motions for me. Cillian Murphy very good, and it all ends in a fittingly larger-than-life and haunting way!
