For some reason I have put off watching La La Land until now. Maybe watching Emma Stone in Poor Things convinced me to give this a go, but I’m so glad I did because it exceeded all my expectations. What a film! Looks and sounds awesome, great music, but what makes it work is the emotional punch it packs with the love story between Mia and Seb, and the heartbreaking reality of life. In that sense it reminded of Past Lives at the end, and what could have been.
