So is it juice with a "g" or juice with a "j", I still don't get it.
Started weak, but ended strong. Honestly didn't know what they were trying to do through the first 30 minutes and kept thinking, "why does everyone like this?"... then I got it.
Brought a fresh and original story while living up to the original concept and style. By the end, I was 100% on board.
Was toeing the line between a 3.5 and 4 star rating, but the way they kept within the lines drawn from the original yet still found a way to make it feel like a new take within the old story, they won me over.
Main takeaways:
- Jenna Ortega is great in everything. Is she just the most likeable actress working today or what? Nails it every time.
- Keaton - he's still got it. Loving watching him killing these old roles and doing it with style, humility, and all while still making it look so freakin cool.
- Catherine O' Hara - you can do no wrong in my book.
- Winona Ryder still looks freakin amazing and nails Lydia Darling as an adult.
- And not to mention all the other great performances: Willem freakin Dafoe cracking me up the entire movie, Monica Bellushi looking as good as ever - zombie and all, Justin Theroux with the best comedic performance of his career, and some kid I've never heard of, Arthur Conti, being the creepiest love interest ever.
